HELP! funny clutch noise.
Hey guys, I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that when I press down on the clutch pedal at about 3/4 of the way down I start to hear a rubing noise. The car still shifts fine, no grinding or anything. could it just be that the pedals pivot point needs some WD40 or grease? After I let the clutch out and press it back in several times the rubbing starts at about 1/2 way down. HELP! sad.gif

First thing I would do is bleed/flush your hydraulic clutch line. The fact that it changes from 3/4 pedal travel to 1/2 pedal travel seems to indicate the system allows pressure to be built up. If so, then you might have air in the line.
Next would be to determine if the noise is coming from INSIDE the tranny, or from the clutch pedal cable/assembly itself. Lube it all up and make sure everything is tight, then have someone pump the cluch for you while you listen in the engine bay. You should be able to tell if it is the cable/pedal assembly vibrating or if it is the clutch.
Not sure how many miles you have on your car, but how it the clutch? Slipping at all?

The noise really sounds like its coming from the pedal assembly/cables or inside the passenger compartment. I'll try lubing everything up and tightening all pieces.
My tib has 60,152 miles on it. the gears grind sometimes but I think that its really my fault when it happens!
Do you think the clutch plate is going? the clutch still feels stiff, no mushyness.

quiktib-
The clutch pedal would only go mushy if you had air in the line. The clutch would SLIP if it was starting to go. Try lubricating the cable wtih 3-1 oil in the passenger compartment and just some drops of regular motor oil in the engine compartment.
