GL4 and GL5 gear oil *Help?*
Ok, went down to tthe store and checked out some of the gear oil, cause i'm changing the fluid in my tranny.
Some fluid bottles say "Good with GL5" or something like that
the other bottles said abvout using along the lines of GL4 and GL5..
Now, the Gear oil that labels GL4 and GL5... is that safe for my tranny? mind you, all i have up north here is moto master, and nothing else.

If the gear oil is non synthetic...and is labeled "GL4" then it is safe.
Either that, or buy redline from www.redline.com

I would say.
The best fluids for our transmissions would be.
Redline Mt90 (must be ordered online)
GM Syncromesh (dealers use this as stock fluid)
BM TrickShift (sold at advanced auto zone)
Now... Redline recommends a mix of Redline MT90 and MTL in our transmission. in colder climates.
I live in PA. and even in the bitter cold. The straight redline mt90 is a bit stiff in the cold. but after about 5 mins. its nice.
And its only stiff below like 20F.
But anyone in like Vermont. I woudl think you wanna run a 50/50 mix.
