Gas Milege too low?
On 10 gallons I'm only getting 180-200 MAX. That's with no racing, and taking off from lights average, just normal driving. I don't sit in much traffic, and it feels like I should get more miles. Is it too low? If it is, what could the problem be?

For a 2000 tibby with no mods..yes, that is low.
Do this. For the next 5 tankfulls do this.
Write down the mileage, then fill up the tank ALL THE WAY (till the pump stops)
Keep the slip/recept that says how many gallons you purchased, or at least write it down.
Repeat 5 times.
Then check your mileage vs your gas consumption. You've got a 14.5 gallon tank, run it to true empty (not gauge empty) before you re-fill it.
Let me know what those figures show.
Poor gas mileage can be caused by many things.
Clogged air filter
Clogged PCV valve
Old/misgapped/fouled sparkplugs
Bad spark plug wires
Bad coil pack
Clogged air filter
restrictive intake design
IAT sensor misreporting air
MAF sensor misreporting air
Dirty oil/oil filter
Bad/misreporting TPS...etc..etc..etc..

Your milage numbers are looking like mine. I have just noticed that I seem to be getting like around 200 or so...but when I first got it..I seemed to get alot higher..Like maybe 320 or someething around there....PLEASe help me out here...as I feel as my performace is slipping away..it also seems to take alot of power to get a start....like the other day..either it wass just me jumpy or it was the car...but I was racing and it felt like it almost wanted to stall.....another thought...is it kewl to drive @ a steady 4500? When i want to hold a little in my back pocket so to speak...normal shift takes place at around 5500-6000...some times hit the rev limitor..is this a bad thing? Just trying to figure why the crappy milege and performance...i feel more and more each and every day that I NEED /BBTB/BIM/CAT BACK/4-2-1

Make sure you drive untill the fuel light comes on constant. Then fill up with gas. Divide the mileage by how many gallons you put in.
If you only put in 10 gallons, we have a 14.5 gallon tank, so you low fuel light is coming on really early!
Also, what is your driving style and do you have an auto or manual.

I went through a period where it felt like my mileage was mediocre, too. I was getting about 230 - 250 per tank, city driving, usually going home from SMU to Irving along Loop 12 or tooling around Dallas (reference only made for JVX's edification). Now that I'm doing the big commute, about 100 miles a day, all blitzing along the highway, I can squeeze 350 miles out of a tank before the fuel needle wins the game of chicken, and I stop to gas up. ::shrug:: My city mileage seems to sit around 300 miles per tank now.
It could be some sort of net effect of a mainly-city driving lifestyle. More comes into effect than just sitting in traffic...when you're doing little more than 10 - 15 minute stints to school and back, your car is spending just as much time warmed up and efficient as it is spending in the waming-up phase. It takes its toll on the engine by forming deposits in the engine, adding wear on moving parts, etc...
How many miles are on your car?

Iago, so should I drive more in the mornings/afternoons? As you might know that parking lot is a 5-15 minute wait-a-thon while trying to get out.
Random, the light came on and I ran it until I filled up with 13.8 gallons. So that is some bad milege.
Iago, maybe I could wake up super early and take 183 smile.gif (if only all of you lived in Irving smile.gif )
Are there any things I could look for to see if it's wrong? (ie: low pressure in tires, ect)
