Default engine stalled, now acting weird

ok, this is gonna be kinda long, i'll try to be concise...

i lived and fl and decided to go to school in ct, so i figured i'd get a small u-haul trailer and tow it to school. the trailer's dry weight was about 700-800 lbs. with all of my s**t, i figured it was approx 1100lbs. the owner's manual for my car says that it can tow 1000lbs, so i figured it should be cool towing approx 1100lbs. now i know that the tib wasn't made for towing, and that this was probably one of the worst things i could do, so don't post if that's what you're going to say. so, i was driving on the highway, cruising at about 70-75mph when i saw a hill. i clutched it to downshift to 4th, and the engine stalled when i pushed in the clutch. i pulled over because i figure it overheated. the temp guage read right in the middle, as normal. i waited about 10 minutes, and it started back up. right before i left, i changed the plugs and wires. so, my problem now is that it doesn't feel right, and it hasn't since i've been up here for about 3 months. i was thinking that the added stress of towing could have made the plugs/wires wear out faster than normal. any thoughts??? random, red, jaws, shadohh? i'm pretty sure it's not due to an elevation change because i'm only a few hundred feet higher than i was in fl, and i'm not even sure about that. i checked the elevation charts, and i'm between 0 and 500 feet here.

ok...

just a guess. i think its your clutch,...

If you can rev your engine fine in nuetral... but it just wont go in gear... then you have tranny problems...

lets hope its the clutch

If not im thinking its your differential...

Give me some more details... try reving it in nuetral... does it feel fine?

No... this is an engine control issue. If it were the clutch, he wouldn't be driving it around, nor would it have stalled on a 5-4 downshift.

I'll recommend collecting whatever computer codes were set, then resetting the ECU and seeing if the codes come back.

It happened once and has yet to happen. I think it was a fluke.
