Default Engine not stopping with ignition off

Hey all,

I finally starting doing a bit of work on my RD1 evo project and the first thing i need to fix is the fact that the engine doesn't shut down when i turn the ignition off. I've done some basic tests and if i turn the ignition on and then off without starting the car the voltage readings on the back of the ignition switch multi-plug are as they should be. However, when I actually start the car and then turn the key off pin 6 on the multiplug which is IG2 stays live. I've run the car with the alternator unplugged and this has no effect on the fault, have any of you guys come across this before or got any ideas what could be causing this issue.

thanks in advance...

The first idea I have is a faulty ignition switch, or if there are any relays in the ignition system one of them is sticking in the "run" position.

Try tapping on the starter relay after you turn the key off.
