ECT switch

hey what does this switch really do? its the ect switch located next to the shifter on a automatic 97 tib fx and it has on the switch PWR and NRM what does this thing do?

I don't have an autotragic so I can't really say, but could it be like an Over Drive button?

From my personal experience, It seems to let my engine go all the way to redline. Which is good, considering if I dont' have it on, i can only get up to 6k.
