Default Could it be the Starter?

BACKGROUND INFO:: This has happened a couple of times now. It will do it @ various times during the day. I have to start the car @ least 20X a day. It can do it first thing in the morning, or whenever.
Turn the key to start the car, car starts, but then has that grindy noise sound like your still turning the key while the car is already running.
My hand is off the key when this happens. Like I said, the car has already started and is running when it'll make that grindy sound. It all happens very fast..less than a 5-7 sec span from the time of turning the key.
Car now has 90,000 miles. NEED some hints as to what is wrong BEFORE the warranty goes (in a few weeks).

Yeah, sounds like it's not retracting properly. Grinding, sort of high pitched and bouncing a bit, right? That will burn out the starter and can damage the teeth pretty quickly.

I agree, sound like your starter. HMA shows you how to rebuild it. And its rather simple to remove. Just take out your air box or CAI and you can access, its only held in with 2 bolts.

Its either no retracting right or its needs a simple LUBE job.
