so for the past couple of days the car has had a little problem starting it would turn and take a little while to actually start today it wouldnt start at all. i dont think its the battery cause all the lights work and so does my stereo, so im also assuming that its not the alternator. my friend and i just changed the sparkplugs now but that didnt help(they desperately needed changing havent done it in a while) is it possible that i need new wires?? it wants to start i can hear it clicking and starting to turn over but nothing!! help!!!!
hawk,
i had something like this problem on my '86 thunderbird... it was a shot starter solenoid. don't know if this applies to your case, though. everything else was good, it just wasn't throwing the juice across the circuit to make the motor spin. good luck, man.

If you just hear clicking, it is either a low battery that doesn't have enough juice to engage the starter, or the starter is toast....or your engine is siezed up.
I seriously doubt it's the last one, your car would have given you a couple of warning signs before that.
So....it's either your battery or your starter. Try jumping the car. If it starts when you jump it, then your battery is shot. If it still just clicks, then it is your starter.

Did you try replacing the starter, or are you leaving that for the mechanic?
