Default car trouble

need some advice on this cause my dealer mechanica are idiots. my tib has started idleing very irregular sometimes jumping between 300 and 400 rpm allthe way up to 2000. today it finally tripped a cel. anyone have any idea what this could be? it doesn't do it all time but enough to worry about. the only mod i have is an aso intake. it used to only idle funny when i had the headlights on which probobally isn't good either, but now it does it all the time. so anyone who might have an idea what is causes this i would greatly welcome your responses.

Make sure that you dont mess with anything that is after the MAF. If you remove any of the hoses you will have problem with the idle of your car.

My Tib did the same thing when I put a filter on the end of the MAFS and drilled a hole in the bend tube after it to put the air temp. sensor in. Ultimatly I had to remove the filter and put a piece of piping in between the MAFS and the filter for the air temp. sensor to be installed. And after that I had no problems.

My dealer was a big dick about it though, they made me come down there and reinstall the stock airbox before they would even look at my car after the CEL said it was an air/fuel problem.

I would check your air intake system for Leaks. If you are sure that your intake is not leaking anywhere, check the vacuum line that runs from the fuel pressure regulator to the intake manifold. If that is fine, I would then check the Throttle Position Sensor.

If you take the connector off the TPS, and the idle evens out, then you know the TPS is your problem. Removing that sensor wire MAY trigger it's own CEL light, but the car should run fine otherwise with the TPS disconnected (temporarily).
