BBTB Installed - Problem - HELP!
All-
I installed my Tigerlilly 60mm tb today, reset my ecu and went for a drive (this on the V6). Initially it seemed great - but once I revved the motor the idle is now floating between 1500 and 1800 rpm and sometimes revving up to 3000 all by itself. When driving it feels like the throttle is sticking too. It's not mechanical - so I'm guessing it's the TPS. It came with one already installed, and it looks brand new - like they took an OEM TB and bored it. Suggestions? If I can't fix it tonight - I'm just going to put my stock TB back on.
TIA

Check the cable tension: make sure it's not too tight and holding the throttle open, make sure the cable is still running the same path, no kinks or tight bends.
Check for vacuum leaks: Check every single hose and clamp and bolt, any leak near the TB can cause erratic idle.
Then consider TPS and other things that may require more work wink

Tried swapping the TPS - same thing (and triple checked everything). Swapped the old TB back in and the problem disappeared. I know the performance is better when you match the intake manifold - but the larger bore of the tb wouldn't cause the problem would it?
Random - sorry for posting in the wrong place sad.gif
I had to swap it over, the only thing it came with was the TPS. What I did notice was that they only bored either side of the butterfly - but left the stock butterfly in place. It's possible it's leaking around the butterfly, but would that cause the idle rpms to fly all over the place like they were?

They didn't make a larger plate? You can see around it when it's closed? eek! Erm, yeah, that could be a problem.
A new plate has to be made--it only costs the shop about 5 bucks at the most. I'd take the TB and throw it at the guy who did the work. That's just dishonest.
As for the random spikes in idle--well, that still kind of sounds like a vacuum leak.

ok, here's the problem. i ran into the same thing with my 2k tib when i installed a bbtb. the idle won't be the same, so don't expect it to be. some days it will be higher or lower than others. but as for the rpms jumping up, after you readjust the idle screw, make sure the nut that holds it is TIGHT. i would be driving, and my idle would be fine, then when i came to a stop light, the idle would be at 2 grand. i could be off of the throttle and still go 40mph. i'd pull over and back out the idle screw. as for the throttle sticking, i don't know when yours does it. mine does it in the mornings or when the car is cold. there is just a little lip in the tb that the plate sticks to. i just have to tap the throttle to get it unstuck. your sticking problem may be the same as mine. but as for the idle, i'm 99% sure that that's your problem.
