Default Auto trouble*Update*

Well I got a auto on my 03 tib. I think my trannie just died or the control unit for it did.
I was on way to home to get my stuff for the S-AFC install then all of the sudden no constant speed rapidly loses speed. I had to drive it home hauling *** then go back to speed limit letting of gas pedal. Press down pedal again to get up to speed then let off gas pedal to slow down to speed limit. Checked all connections and fluids good to go. Guess I am going to take it to the dealer. Maybe this is better explaination I have to keep pressing and letting off the gas pedal to maintain constant speed. Car idles kinda high now too when in park. I check my throttle body could it be possible that the tps sensor when bad?

What happens?
why do you have to keep flooring it to acceleraate?
Why can't you keep the pedal at a constant angle to accelerate?

You didn't describe the problem, only what you did to "workaround" it?

From your description, it sounds like the MAF has fallen off, or that air is getting in behind the MAF. It works at full throttle, but not anywhere else. That would be a MAF thing not a tranny thing.

Ditto on what Random said. If you are taking it to the dealership, have them check the speed sensor as well.

Have you done anything with the A/T to handle the extra power associated with the SC?

Yea my post was more of a rambling on statement.

Problem:
Only accelerates. And slows down (like when you down shift a manual trannie)no in between.

Car: 2003 GTV6 Auto

First thing that came into my mind as well was the tubing to the MAF came off. Nope wasn't it. Checked motor oil good check trannie fluid good. Checked all tubing to throttle body good. Other thing I checked was the throttle cables there a little loose but not out of specs.

Car idles fine at stop light but it launches at about 1.8 k to get get going like it didn't engage.
When I get home from work I am going to take aprt the tubing to make sure the filter didn't pop off and some damn rat or bird got up into the intake or someting may be blocking the MAF like a peice of paper. Hopefully its not the trannie. Theres no strange noise or check engine lights. But one thing I do remember is I can not here the cai sucking air like it used too. I will check all the tubing once I get home. Its possible the stock gasket for the TB could be blocking something, I guess. I didn't match the gasket to the BBTB size hopefully thats not it because I will ripping the plenum and throttle body off to clean. Well I am going back home after I post this.

P.S. Does that format work better. LOL

Update: Checked all tubing and inspected TB and manidfold. All is good. Reset ECU

Problems still:
High idel as if it was stuck have to put it in reverse or drive then back to park to make it normal.
Shifting accurs really ruff. You can feel it kick in to gears harder.

So waht I am going to do is go to dealer and see if the TCU has gone bad. I think thats what you call it.

Well still havn't made to the dealer yet but the problem that now exist is with the GTV6 is you can feel the harsh down shifting when coming to a stp. I know its the TCM hopefully the dealer can fix the TCM.

It sure sounds like something died or the wiring connection came disconnected. Still no CEL?

When you checked the tranny fluid, did it still look reddish/clear?

Yep know cel yet? I checked all the connectors to the ECU because that was what I was messing with earlier the day before it happened. All connections are good. Tranny fluid lvl was good.

If the fail-safe system is activated and the transaxle is locked in third gear, the diagnostic trouble code in the Fail-safe code description will be stored in the RAM. Three of these diagnostic trouble codes can be stored.

Looking through webtech found this info on the tranny this is probably exactly what happened before. Then once i reset my ECU the TCM went out of fail -safe. Now what cause the tranny to do it i am going to dealer tomorrow. But still doesn't explain why I didn't get a CEL.

This morning car finally put a CEL light on. Whoohoo. Replaced back to my stock TB so when I took it to dealership wouldn't get any hasssles. But anyways.

They told me it was the TPS sensor but didn't clarify so I bit my tongue because I knew he didn't know the facts. Turns out it was the connector that connects to the TPS not the sensor. reason I know I put a mark on the sensor after I went back to my stock throttle body. The BBTB comes with its own TPS sensor.

So thats been the problem. Thats why I hate auto's too. Felt like the trannie. Oh well I will chalk it up to experiance.
The other thing they did was replace the recalls:
Something with seatbelts
OBD connector ground.
They never heard of the reflash that everyone is talking about on newtiburon.
