air flow meter unplugged
Hi everyone,
i have a 2008 hyundai tiburon 2.0. i have a cat back and and and induction.Today i was wireing my exhaust cut out and out of couroisity i unlpuged the air flow meter that is just before the throttle body. To my astonishment the check engine light didn,t light so i taught to go for a ride. The car is so much more responsive.it has incresed in power by a noticable margin. is this normal and am i in risk of damaging the engine?? |
The CEL should eventually come on. The only time I've heard of unplugging the MAF not causing bad drivability problems is when the MAF is already fried. Never done it on anything newer than an 05 though.

Ive never seen a car work well with the MAF unplugged. The computer doesn't have a critical piece of information for making an A/F ratio.
So have you been driving around like that or has your CEL come on? |
