Water. Gatorade has way too much sugar. Depending on your level of effort and sweat, 1oz per body of weight in a day. Drink before, on the way, during, and after.

Water during my workouts, then one bottle of Gatorade Recovery after my cooldown. Makes me feel SO much better after the workout. Has about 14 Grams of protein plus some carbs to give you that instant energy kick.
