Default Thinking about getting a pull up bar that attaches to my door

Anyone have one? My upper body strength sucks so if I get one of those pull up bars that attach to a door frame, and start doing pull ups every night, hopefully I'll develop more upper body muscles over the span of a couple of months. Those that have one, how often do you use it, how many pull ups do you do, and should I do them in reps or just go for as many as I can do in a certain time limit?

i dont have a door frame one but i have one on the wall in my mechanical room... i rarely use it, i used it daily for a few months, then gave up.

how many can ya do now? I say, day 1 just go for as many as ya can. then repeat that number every day for a week or two. then start upping the number of reps.

I started being able to do one at a time and quickly (month or 2?) built up to 30+ at one hanging. I can't sit still, so when the wife wants to watch TV, I can't sit still during commercials. I'll jump up, walk to the door leading to the garage, and bust out whatever pull ups I can. Do your max, rest til the next commercial, and hit it again. Doing it everyday for 3-5 sets, you should definitely see an improvement fairly quickly.

Mine is similar to a curtain rod that has a spring and you twist it to extend it. It has two metal circles that you screw into the frame and you extend the bar so it fits within the holes. I've used it weighing anywhere from 180-235 lbs. and never had an issue with it. It's somewhat permanent, I haven't taken it down once in over 2 years and you only see it from inside the garage.

Looks identical to this.

Be carefull and make sure you can use one first..... Not to insult your intelligence, but I had a friend that got one of those attach form outside the fram type, and all the room in his house are 'corner' rooms. Though it did work on my room that wasnt' a corner room, but it sticks out further than you think. If your frame is about 8" from the wall, you should be good.

You can just grip onto the frame itself for extra challenge.
