Is it any more effective than your regular pushup?

You could go deeper, maybe hit slightly different areas of the muscles involved. For $10 you could whip up a set made of PVC that are as tall, short, or adjustable as you prefer. $50 my eye.

These will definately help. You have to use more intrinsic muscles of your arms, shoulders, and back from using them. I've used them for the past 3.5 years. They are easier on the wrists too. I picked mine up for $19.99, so look for them at walmart for that price.

When doing a push up turn your face to the side and try to put your cheek to the ground. Alternate side with every rep and see how that turns out.

good night marie, don't tell that to the company commanders in any military basic training camps. Bad enough doing pushups on pointyass asphalt in the sun.

They'll definitely save your wrists, but aren't worth $50. You should be able to find them for $15-20. They're as effective as push up bars, in my opinion, or using dumbbells while doing push ups. I don't rotate mine hardly at all when I use them.
