Anyone find which wire we need to splice into? I`m a little nervous to just hack away at the wiring harness or whatever to find it.

The DIY for the AOS gauges has it I believe. Most of us have used the power wires for the interior dimmer switch.
The aos diy just says to put it into some 12v connection, I spliced into the clock power wiring, you'd think red would be power and black ground, but it wasn't
You probably want a 12v connection that is only on when the lights are on, i'd guess you don't want the gauges to be always lit up - hence the dimmer switch whire.
Be careful with the clock, i don't know the connections, but remember when you turn the lights on the clock light gets DIMMER..

Power = Green/white wire from dimmer switch
Ground = Green/black wire from dimmer switch
Power stays at car voltage (12V) when lights are on. The adjustable ground is what causes the difference in potential and allows you to adjust the intensity of the lights.
For simplicity of install, use 14-16awg(blue in color) wire taps to hook into the green/white and green/black wires. They are the proper size. I installed my AOS gauges were installed this way and have worked with no problems for 3 years.
You can always solder the wires in place and then tape them up. Don't just tape them or they will start getting loose and you'll have problems later.

quick questions about these before i try and install them.
1. do i have to cut any wires so the factory backlight doesnt come on?
2. you have to take the factory gauges out, you cant just overlap them. correct?
3. why did they come with only one wire tap? is it because you can just tap the power then ground the black somewhere?
thanks. i just wanted to comfirm a few things before i pull apart my dash haha

1. No. You wouldn't want to anyways, your needles won't light up and your odometer stuff won't light up if you disable the back light.
2. No, these are actually overlays. To have the idiot lights colored correctly and displayed correctly, use them as overlays (at least the right gauge set)
3. Because you only need that one wire tapped Usually you ground to the chassis somewhere.
