Yeah, they can crack, I've seen it, so don't get them drilled, get them dimpled.

Just an FYI, Hawk pads will eat into the plating like no other pad out there. Great pads but not good for aesthetics.
I'd see if a return is possible and go with Rich's pads. They're good performance pads that are gentle on the coating. I run EBC Greenstuff now and Im switching.
Great to see so many happy dudes. If you get a chance, thank Rich for them. He's a great guy who's giving us a great price.

The plating/coating is intended to keep the hats of the rotors from getting corroded over time... not the wearable area. Rich even confirmed this for me. My <u>Rotorworks</u> (not RotorPros) rotors corroded heavily on the hats after a year or so on my tib. When I got the D/S rotors for the Element from Rich, I painted the hats as a precautionary measure with gunmetal wheel paint (for that extra added protection).

But the type of pads determines whether they stay looking like that or look like they're regular SS rotors.
Sure, I expect the rotors to look like that. They still do on my front axel and I've used them for 20K miles.

No, the coating is like Phorq said, it keeps it from getting rusted and corroded. As soon as you hit your brakes and it wears it off of the coating area, you are prone to rusting. That's fine, as hitting the brakes again while moving will...

^^ I read somewhere that if the E-brake handle was not adjusted correctly, the auto-adjuster mechanisim will not function correctly. Maybe the problem could be related to mis-alignment of the e-brake. it should require 40LBS of force to lift up 7 clicks. you should not be e-braking at all for 1-2 clicks
