The slots do that by scraping the surface of the pads. Does a good job but also wears the pads much faster than normal. I have cross-drilled rotors on my Tiburon and have had no problems with them. It's a matter of personal preference, in my opinion.

go look at your rotors and look were they drilled it
tell me if there is any cracks
i have cross drilled and slotted and my drills are crackin pretty bad i have like a 3/4 inch crack going from the hole at the base of the hub

I just looked at them a few days ago and I have none of that at all. But they've only been on the car for about four months and I've put about 7,000 kms on them. They've seen the worst weather conditions and temperatures though given our winter up here. Have to wait and see how they hold up in the long term.
