How much room do you guys have to room to work on things? I’ve been thinking about adding a workbench to the garage, but not really sure how big of an area will do. Post pics so I can see what you guys have to work with.

i should take a pic of my disaster of a garage....i have 3 small workbenches but that doesnt mean i have much space to work in. tiny 1 car garage built in the late 50's so theres not much room to begin with. now im at the point where i have just about every tool you could need including a 26gal compressor and an engine hoist which i dont even have room to assemble right now. on top of that my stuff for my house like my lawnmower. hell, i have crap stored up in the rafters in there because im out of room!

one workbench has a disassembled accent manual trans, one has an overflowing toolbox and other such crap, other has the disassembled hoist. space under them is all taken up too. lawnmower, air tools, 2gal compressor (hey its portable), waste oil container, dead hookers, etc.

i'll take some pics sometime.

i had a 2'x 8' workbench that i later cut down to 6' so i could get in and out of my car in the garage-... it seems to suffice just fine.

I have a one car garage. I have everything placed just so around the outside in neat piles, with my tool box towards the front. Like Zero, it consists of home and garden AND car stuff. Then the car is neatly parked in the middle covered up for winter.

**on a side note - Tam, how old is that girl in your avatar? Kinda creepy.

one of these days i'm building a house. i intend to build one of the greatest garages known to man. 2.5 car, huge ceilings, hard lines for shop air, 230v outlet for welding, full hoist in one of the bays and probably a smaller sealed room in the corner with exhaust ventilation for painting. keep all the poo in there. every time i paint in my little garage i get toxic dust everywhere no matter what i do.

might be a few years, but a man can dream right?

I have a 25 foot by 25 foot workbench that also doubles as a floor.
