Default wierd electrical problem

Ok, so I'm driving along and my clock starts slowly dying. I'm like WTF? I give it gas and the thing comes back for the duration of the drive. Ok, so it sounds like the alternator. I pulled down my back seat so I could see the capacitor voltage level.

This is where it gets wierd. When I rev my engine voltage drops down lower, when I idle the car, the voltage raises back up. Also, it seems to do this randomly at different times, like my voltage fluctuates between 9 - 14.6V. I took it to Auto Zone to have it checked and the guy said it was my Alternator, somehow I doubt that though.

My car wouldn't start today, then I shut it off after a push start and it started right up again after. The battery is connected very well. I don't think it's that battery-cable connection. Where else would I check for a random problem like this?

Sounds to me like the voltage regulator inside your alternator is going out.

Voltage regulator in alternator is my opinion. Remove and discharge your cap then go get your system checked againl

Just make sure to charge the cap BEFORE you hook it back up, unless you like sparks flying.
