Whats the reasoning behind
states that pass different automotive laws between each other. Example - some states require a front license plate, others do not. Some states allow you to have really dark tint, other states do not. Some states allow radar detectors, others do not. Is it usually a politician or a committee that deems a certain law passed when it comes to automotive stuff or is there more to it? Revenue? Closed minded government?

State's rights. They have the ability to do what they want so they do. The Federal guys only poke their nose in on some things like emissions.
