What do companies do with old SEMA cars? Do they usually sell them to people, or dismantle them and turn them back to stock?

That depends. If the vehicle was bought by a tuner/modder then modified, they keep it and do what they want with it. If the vehicle was lent to a tuner by a manufacturer, it's return to the manufacturer and usually crushed because they legally can't be sold.
W'oh! So Hyundai crushed all those cars they gave to tuning companies? You would think that they would give the cars to certain dealers and let them try and sell them to consumers. Why cant they be sold legally? Most of the time tuner companies just add body kits, wheels, and turbo kits? Dont see how the cars couldnt be returned to stock or be driven on the streets.

The ones that get crushed do not have vins, as discussed, because they are pre production run models sent here for just that. The BSE GK was crushed.
