Default SO FING MAD!

So i removed the sideskirts for the first time ever today and what do you know FING rust enough to fit your first through. So ive talked to a couple places and the dealer has the rocker panels for 400 a piece. ( forget that ) and patreezy might be able to get me some off his parts car. And among other things the rust that i thought was to be only on the surface has ravaged the driver side quarter panel. ( also talked to patrezy about this)

there is a local guy who can fix this stuff right, but it is really making me sick to my stomach thinking about how im going to source these parts. Let alone pay for labor. makes me want to push the car off the jack stands and let it slide down the drive way.

So if i dont just lay down and die, i plan to replace both rear quarter panels, rocker panels, and sand blast the entire underside of the car.

In the end i will have an amazing clean under side, but at around 700 to 1k in labor plus parts.

....fml.....

Dude, it might be cheaper/easier to just buy my part's car shell? Just a thought, don't know if I'd actually want to go through with it. I had grandious plans to set it on fire, bash in the windows, etc..

It's in good condition other than some small damage to the radiator support from a less than 5mph nose bump into a Jeep Grand Cherokee..

I know how you feel. It seems to be a major engineering flaw in the Tiburon. I wish there was a recall, but they would never repair things like that.

Did you have your splash guards on with that bodykit? What happens is dirt enters from the fenders (without guards or if they are not installed well).

The big rust spots happen only near the jack stands. Both the Elantra and Tiburon are rusting there. It doesn't seem to be a problem, at least not in the near future.

Had the exact same spots rusted. Spent a whole month cutting/welding new panels in (hand made).

i do have few options here.

-i found one in tact rocker panel at the junk yard.(driver side) so i may only need the passenger side depending on weather or not the rocker from the junk yard has rust on the inside. so i may buy a passenger side which if patreezy is still willing i might buy that off him and buy the rear quarters off him as well.

(The driver side rear quarter really only needs patched but i haven't dug to deep into that yet to be sure)

-buy the whole parts shell and cross my fingers that there is no rust inside, rebuild that shell with my tiburon.

-buy the whole parts shell and copy and past everything to my current tiburon.( all done by a professional frame restoration company a new friend of mine actually so he quoted me 600-800 in labor which if you have any idea what is involved its a good deal)

either way i plan to restore the bottom on which ever vehicle i choose. surface rust on the inside of the rocker is not a big deal as i plan to blast, paint, and possibly undercoat the inside part of the rocker.
