Leakdown & Compression tests..
Does the leakdown test help you pinpoint problem if your car is burning oil? Because mine is and id like to know what needs to be replaced.. also the compression test, thats just to check if your pistons/rods etc are in working order?? sorry im a newb..

The compression test can determine if your pistons and valves are sealing properly. If the compression is low, you can add some oil through the spark plug hole and re-check. If the compression is better, your piston rings are shot. If it's not, your valves are not sealing properly (rings could still be bad).
A leakdown test pressurizes the cylinder to see what percentage of the air pressure is lost as the piston is moved up and down slowly. Anything over 30% is a major concern, under 20% usually isn't as long as it's past the rings. If you hear the air leaking through the oil cap, it's past the rings. Through the throttle body (probably have to open the TB to hear) it's past an intake valve. Through the exhaust it's past an exhaust valve.
