Default Hyundai specific OBD-II data

Good evening all.

OBD-II scanners are a dime a dozen these days, which is great. However, OBD-II plugs usually have a few pins which are left blank, for the manufacturer to use as they please. I've seen Volvo-specific scan tools, and they are big ass mofos which can presumably pull a lot of data.

+1 internet to whomever can identify what this is from.

I know there is specific Hyundai hardware, and that there are employee-only areas of webtech, but what are they? What functionality do they have above and beyond your regular eBay scan tool?

I don't know the answer to your question but I know who does. He worked for Hyundai 20 years building these scan tool systems. Met him at a racetrack driving Porsche 944s, he saved my ass when my turbo Hyundai broke down, happened to have all of his Hyundai diagnostic stuff in the trailer. Haha.

Would that be random? Oh, for the ability to tag people in posts.

There are 1000s of parameters available to Hyundai specific scan tools. The cost is also in the $1000s too. Usually the pro versions of a scan tool can do this but you have to buy a license to get all the manufacturer's codes.

Interesting. When you say 1000s of parameters, are these even things that would throw a code? Or are these like CAN functions and air bag/auto trans controls that all run through the OBD port?

It makes me wonder just how many functions of the car are actually smart and can give feedback to a scan tool.

No they don't all throw a code. Those are usually only the Powertrain or ABS codes. Anything electronically controlled can be accessed through a scan tool with the manufacturer's protocols.
