Default Home made breaker bars

What kind of home made breaker bars have you guys made or used to get stubborn bolts loose? I'm thinking a long pipe might be the best way to go (havent made my own yet). What else can you use?

Breaker bars are cheap. I haven't seen the need to build anything more substantial than my 3 foot breaker.

I have a 3' aluminum pipe. Anything that needs more than that calls for a pneumatic impact gun IMO.

I just use part of my jacks handle. It's easy to break your ratchet using this method though.

yup, big ole section of pipe. if you are in a pinch, you can use a deep socket + extension bar on the end of your handle for a ghetto extension.

Normal size breaker bar, then an closed end 1" wrench. Not the best idea, but hey it works in a pinch.

I am with Floyd, if I can get the 3 footer in there... it is either going to loosen or break. I have yet to be defeated by the little bolts on a hyundai..

On military stuff, like tracks. Tent pole on a big breaker bar.. never fails.

Whenever I need a breaker bar, I just go to my work truck and grab a pre-cut piece of black iron gas pipe (18, 24, 36, 48, 60 inches). Being an HVAC mechanic has it's perks!

edit - BTW, you can buy these pre-cut pipes at any home depot

Yeah, but the perks come with sweating your b*lls off outside in the sun 1/3 the time so . . .

The pay makes it totally worth it. And the fact that I get to fix stuff.
