The past 2 times I have went to get gas, I saw people pumping gas with their cars running. Its not like it was cold out and people needed their cars to warm up. Anyone here do it on a regular basis or have done it? What was your reasoning for it?

The reasoning is unless you drive the world's nastiest hoopty, you won't blow up your car when you leave it running when pumping gas. Probably.

If your car builds up static as it runs, or has random sparks going on, then it's suicide. With a car in good condition I don't have a real problem with it, aside from the security risk of someone ducking in your car and driving off with it.

Keys: in pocket or hand.

It should throw a CEL on most newer cars. I haven't personally tried it on anything made since the 70's.
