My dad always taught me to clean the tools every single time after using them. I make sure they are polished to a shine and then make sure every one is back in its place properly in the tool boxes. Anyone else this picky about their stuff?

Nope Lol. Most of the stuff I use regularly is in a big pile. Most of it is covered in oil as a preservative though if that counts.

i got a couple of tool boxes and same as 187sks. my tools are mostly in a pile and not often i clean them. i might if i get them really nasty ie. covered in thick grease.

on the upside i do use certain drawers in my tool chest for certain tools. for example, one drawer is only sockets and wrenches. the top part is all the bigger crap i cant fit in a drawer haha.

Occasionally I'll give them a squirt with WD-40, but it isn't really needed.

I keep all the nice tools at home in a polystyrene box. I've got a bunky old toolbox with chinese tools and random stuff like crowbars and mulitmeters that I take as a mobile kit. Its a pretty good system.

I keep them organized, but unless they got truly dirty while working on the vehicle, I generally don't go to great lenghts to clean them.

I'm a mechanic by trade, so my tools are all clean and organized. In fact I just ordered a huge 3 bay Matco 6-series box and hutch to replace my too small Snap-On box. At the end of the day, everything gets wiped down, put away, visually inventoried and locked up.

I never clean my tools. It's nice when tools are clean, but I think they're going to get messed up anyways.

Like Floyd, I have a pile. Half of it is rusted but it's from the moisture. I do plan on organizing it ideally everything when I get some time.
