Should be able to do an intake for pretty cheap, although you're probably going to have to chop up a cheap ebay one for a different car and make it fit. Getting custom exhaust bent for the car would be good, and if you shop around a bit and buy your own muffler you should be able to get it done for $150 or so.

^ What Floyd said!

Basically, it should be pretty easy to take a cheap ebay intake (say one for an Eclipse or Civic), and make it work for an Excel. That should only run ya around $25-$50, depending on the intake you can find on ebay.

As for an exhaust, you can buy a universal muffler off ebay for usually around $40 or $50. Then go some muffler shop, like Midas or Monro, and have them put in a 2.25" crushed bent piping from the cat back. You can find universal performance catalytic converters also, by Car Sound if you wanted a free flowing one, but they will run ya around $250. Otherwise, if you just do the bigger diameter piping from the cat back, with the universal muffler...it should run ya around $150 or so.

You could also do a coolant by-pass mod to cool the throttle, but thats recommended if you live in an area that doesnt get too cold during the winter months. If you have a standard transmission, you could also go with a new clutch and light weight flywheel. But those run ya some decent money.

$150 isnt a very large budget to work with. So really you're only options are an intake and/or exhaust. Good luck with your build up though. smile.gif

thanks for the replies guys, well the intake im gonna do but im not sure if its worth the trouble, my buddy had a 93 excel but couldnt bipass the airflow sensor so it would just mess things up for him, and im gonna be doing an engine swap to the 4g63t which is ggonna be rough and it gets rougher, at the moment the hyundai is a 4 spd automatic and im playing on converting it to standard so i got alot of work ahead of me i got the money for it all pretty much as long as i use my own shop

Yeah. You can use pretty much anything from a same or close to same year CSM (Colt,Summit,Mirage) that has the same engine size. Obviously there are differences but for the most part the engines are the same.. Or just do the 4G63T swap.

Ditto

4G63 for sure...but if you do go all the way and get the Turbo... 4G63T Id say your heading in the right direction.
