Well, things did NOT go according to plan this weekend. Yamaneko's Elantra was done, but my Tiburon was not done. Yamaneko's Supercharged Elantra gained 45 HP, but they lost the baseline runs to confirm this. Yamaneko and I will be dynoing both cars at our usual spot this saturday to get comparable numbers. ON Their phunky dyno....supercharged only showed 145 HP. It showed a baseline of 100 HP, but...they did not save those runs.
The shop that they performed the work at, was using a very strange dyno that bolts directly to the hubs (with the front wheels removed). It turned out some very low numbers (see above), so that is why we want to go to our usual place to get some comparable numbers to our previous runs.
My Tiburon has been nothing but trouble for them. They were having too much boost, and fuel delivery problems. Per Nigel, they finally have them all worked out and are just fine tuning the ECU now. I should be able to pick it up tonight around 5:00pm. Keep your fingers crossed.
Here are photos for everyone to ooggle at. They told Bradley to Dump the airbox. They said he was losing at least 10-20 Hp once that airbox got hot...They told him to install a REAL cold air intake. That is a project for one night this week before the Dyno runs on Saturday. Ditto for my car, as they are still using the crappy stock airbox on my Turbo Tibby.
The photos are HUGE (the way I like 'em), so I just included links.

That is 45 HP to the wheels on their dyno. Their dyno also only showed 100 HP on an engine that was dynoed at 128. So...I would reserve judgement till we get it on our usual Dyno.
Also..you never need to re-fill a supercharger *grin*
No...they do not use the head spacer with the supercharger. One thing that they did do that I forgot to mention, is that they lowered the engine in the engine bay by using different motor mounts. They needed to do this to get the supercharger to fit in the engine compartment. I was unware of this, which puts the install beyond the reach of most backyard mechanics...

Final Turbo Numbers
165 HP and 167 Ft Lbs of Torque. at 9 PSI. They were running lean at 12 PSI...so they had to back it down to 9 PSI.
Keep in mind, this is on their phunky dyno that only registered 100 HP stock. In 2 weeks Yamanko and I will be going to our USUAL dyno place so that we can get numbers to compare with our original baseline runs.

Both setups look very neat and clean. Did you specify a black intercooler or you just got it? Nice rides fellas.
How long (approx) did it take them to install the turbo? How long to tune? I want to get an idea as to how much I'll be shelling out to get one put on.
Did it just bolt up to your stock exhaust, Random, or did they need to modify it some? Also, did they need to use an extraneous parts that weren't included in the kit?
[post edit] Just read your flame post..sorry to hear that Random. I guess "try" to answer some of the aforementioned questions... (i.e. How long should it have taken if they didn't do a .5ass job?) [/post edit]

5th injector hose mismatch
Nice Ground Wire for 5th Injector
The 5th injector setup is not pretty, but it apparently works!
Belt Comparison 1
Belt Comparison 2
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
Frayed Alt/oil pump belt
This belt is not on the pulley right, so it rubbed/frayed against the pulley. Now I gotta spend $$ on a new belt and install it. This is after only 34 miles of driving. This belt is less than 5000 miles old.
piping size mismatch
Looks like they used whatever piping was handy. Apparenly they used all the 2' piping making the inlet pipe, so they used 1.5" pipe from the turbo, to the intercooler, and from the intercooler, to the throttle body.
Gee, what's this scuff on the piping?
Gee, what's this scuff on the underside of the hood
yes Kemosabe, they match. The intake pipeing the made rubs on the underside of the hood.
Top down shot of intercooler.
overall photo
Dyno Pic
Final Numbers.. 162.4 HP and 163.4 ft/lbs Torque.

Motor mounts aren't that bad ( depending on which ones exactly ) but then again I'm guessing it is also the strengthen them. The S/C seems most promising right now for autos ( ie need low end from idle ) and simplest to. Yes s/c don't need to be refilled, plus I'm thinking if it can be tuned to 55 hp over baseline thats as good as a 75 shot ( well almost )

How much did it cast to install it?
