better "launching"
Unfortunately im stuck with an automatic, because of all the city driving i do. manual is pretty annoying in traffic. i thought i already posted this but im not sure where or when or if i even did so here it goes. Is there any type of torque convertor out there for hyundai elantras to get better starts off the line. my buddy just installed one in his eclipse and it did wonders for him, he can take it up to 3250 rpm without a worry of moving or what not. he gets pretty decent launches now againest a manual. I need better launching.....any links or info you can provide would be appreciated. thanks.
Unfortunately, I am stuck with am auto, too. But I know a good launch method. Put you car in low, put your foot on the brake, push the gas down until it is around 1500-2000 rpms. Keep the brake down just enough to keep the car still. When you wanna go, or the light turns green wink.gif just let off the brake and push the gas at the same time and you will have an excellent launch with lots of practice.
hahaha nice signature, speed kills drive a civic.... eek.gif tongue.gif thanks for the info ill have to try it, and that will have to do in the meantime, but does anyone know where i can find a torque convertor, i would love to hit like 3500 rpms and be able to launch at that... smile.gif
Hmmm, 3500RPMs... I dunno. Too much, and you could spin and lose more then what you gained. You want a solid launch that'll get you moving. What someone suggested earlier [sorry I forgot your name], hold the break and rev your engine to about 2-2500k, thats good enough, especially for a 4-banger. You also have to remember your friend owns an eclipse, different then your elantra. smile.gif Just keep this in mind... later

Just keep this in mind... laterIf your worried about tracton then launch at a higher rpm.
The torque produced by the engine is most at lower rpms.
try 3500-4000RPM.
Make sense?
the level 10 TQ will get you to about 3100 to 3500 rpm, but wheel spin will be bad, I'm auto and can spin my tires fiercely at 2200 rpm launchs but no power till 3100 rpm. Autos actually are nice in twistied since you can brake and power into and out of turns smile.gif
Definatly call Level 10 and ask for Pat Garret 973 827 1000 they did my tranny and the difference is unbelevable they di dthe Torque converer and I'm having the valve body done on the Nov 9th and not long after that they will have a shiftronic system for us too
