If you have seen my other thread then you know my car is down an the block I got today is siezed up, it went back. So im on the hunt again and got some questions.
1) Will a beta 2 cylinder head (non cvvt) mate to a beta 1 block?
2) Will a beta 2 cylinder head (non cvvt) mate to beta 2 cvvt block?
3) Should I just have a machine shop resurface the crankshaft and connect rods?

beta 2 non cvvt head will work on a beta 1 block i have a 2003 elantra head on my 2000 block BUT you gotta remove the oil restrictor in the block(i can show you if needed)
i wouldnt have them resurface the crankshaft and rods would cost you too much (probably 200+ in machine work)

If I land a beta 1 block then ill want to know about the oil restictor, any advantage/disadvantage between the beta 1-2 blocks? I do know that there are also 1.8 an 2.0 options for the beta 1 block, think ill stick with a 2.0 unless theres a good argument for the 1.8. Also if I remember right beta 1's dont have an aluminum oil pan, if thats right and can you put the aluminum pan onto the block of a beta 1? Thanks for all your help.
you can have the aluminum oil pan on a beta 1 block you just have to shave off this little lip
the 1.8 block is the same as the 2.0
beta 2 block supposedly has a extra rib for strength
