Is it bad to
load up a cold engine? Let me explain.
Revving an engine when it is cold is generally considered a bad thing, dude to a lack of thin oil flowing around the engine. So, is lugging your car around when it is cold okay? I feel like I'm cheating the owner's manual when I flout their 3000 rpm cold rev limit

We don't have too many mornings below 30, so there is no need for block heaters and things like that. I warm up my engine by driving it gently until it is up to operating temperature, but I don't idle it in the drive until it is warm.
So my question pertains to 'driving it gently' whilst the engine is cold, are higher loads/wider throttle opening okay, providing you don't rev the engine too hard?

Theoretically you're increasing wear by increasing bearing load with cold oil. Practically speaking you probably wouldn't ever know the difference.
