Default 97 1.8 Tiburon vs 97 1.8 Elantra

So a few years back when I threw a rod on my 97 tiburon 1.8L engine I had it replaced. All this time I thought I replaced it with a 99 tiburon 2.0L engine, I was wrong. I just found my old receipt with the VIN numbers printed on it and ran a car check on it and it is actually a 1997 elantra 1.8L engine. All this time I've been thinking it was a 99 tib so everything like spark plugs, plug wires, lightweight pulleys, and all that I was getting for a 99 tiburon. Haven't had any problems but my question is........

Are there any main differences between the two engines? Between a 1.8L 1997 Tiburon Engine and a 1.8L Elantra Engine???

Everything I have from the lightweight pulleys, to cold air intake, to big bore throttle body, to camshaft sensors, to crankshaft sensors, to new fuel injectors, to new fuel pump, to ECU, and to 4-2-1 headers and lastly the manual transmission are for a 1997 1.8L tiburon to just give you an idea.

The difference between 1.8L Elantra and Tiburon engines of that year were that some came in Tiburons and some came in Elantras. They are 100% the same engine, almost the same CAR aside from the sheet metal and interior. There were some minor transmission gear ratio changes in the manual transaxle through the years. The parts you listed are interchangeable between body styles because they share the same engine, so no worry!

The timing belt is a different length from 1.8L to 2.0L, which would be a nasty surprise to find out the hard way. Possibly also the other belts because of length. ALMOST everything is still the same on the outside of a 2.0L compared to a 1.8L. See this thread to be sure which engine you have.

The 2.0L block is taller, and the cranks, rods, pistons, injectors are different. 2.0L injectors probably would work fine on a 1.8L, maybe with some Long Term Fuel Trim funkiness if even that. 1.8L injectors would be a little light in the ass but would probably get a 2.0L running. The computers interchange even, until 2001 Elantras went to the Beta II engine (which you can still swap the block and manual transmission with minor changes, go figure).
