Default Wetsanding primer

Hi,

This will be my first pearl that I've painted. After I spray the primer, I believe the next step is to wetsand with 600 Grit. I've never wetsanded primer before. Should I use guidecoat? If not, how do you know when I have sanded enough?

Also, can I safely use a DA (or an orbital) and dry sand with 600? (safely being the key concept)

Edit: This is not a show car. Just a daily driver.

You need to wetsand until there is no orange peel left in the primer. It should feel very slick/smooth.

I wouldn't use a DA on primer. Just use a flexible wetsand block.
