Default Wavy carbon fiber

In almost every picture of carbon fiber hoods, they look really wavy. Not in a regular way but as if it has bad weaves or clear coat or something. Is it pretty common for cf hoods to come from the manufacture with bad clear or does a wavy appearance mean something else? I’m not talking about the weave pattern of the cf.

Moire effect. The sensors on some digital cameras can't capture regular fine grained patterns properly.

They're typically pretty straight. If there's any wave, you're looking at the gel coat wave. It's very similar to the orange peel you find on cars. I've seen carbon fiber itself laid wavy as well, but it's rare.
