as the title states... i've got like water buildup in my passenger side tail lamp... and i've also got this same thing going on in my drivers side clear corner. i had a friend tell me to drill a tiny hole in the bottom of the light... do you think this is a good idea?

bad pic... from a long time ago when it started... sorry

not a good idea.

there is condensation in there because of there being a leak in the sealent that was used to seal the lights. try puting silicone around the seal. not the best thing but im not to sure about throwing those in the oven like headlights.

well... im afraid to totally ruin em ya kno... i'd rather drill a hole in the bottom (very small) and let it dry out rather than put the thing in the oven and have it melt on me... ya kno

maybe i should clarify:

do not drill a hole. the reson you have water (condensation) in there is because there is a hole already. your seal around the lights has a hole leting condensation from the air form under the glass / plastic.

i didnt mean for you to dry it in the oven just to seperate the plastic cover so you can reseal them. but like i said above im not sure about the rear lights or clear corners.

I would check your light's vents. There is a small rubber tube in each light that is there for thermal exansion.. it also lets out (and in) moisture when the lights are on and heated up.

Like said above, if you can do it, remove the lights from the car and put a THIN bead of silicone around where the lens meets the plastic of the body. It does not need to be thick.. if you wear latex gloves, you can smooth the whole thing out so all it does is fill any holes.

It's the light bulbs.

The bulbs get so hot they heat the air and it expands. When it cools, it contracts. After doing that a few times you get a little crack in the side. The heating and cooling continues and when it cools it sucks in the humid air.

What you should do is get a new one for that side and put in LED bulbs. I did it and haven't had another one crack.

I got mine from Superbright LED's .com.

Get them on ebay though. They are all over.

They aren't made the exact same. Very close, but not the same.

^^ i know it's an old topic, but this does not fix it. I bought clear corners from K-SPEC and never ran them with incandescant bulbs. They have only been run with LEDs and are leaking.

Any suggestions as to how to clean up a couple of drips inside the K-SPEC clear corners? I need to get a few water spots out from inside there. I'm wondering if the K-SPEC clear corners are more rugged then stock. If you take windex to the stock corners's internal chrome-like reflective surface, it will remove the paint. Are K-SPEC's more versitile?
