well after having my LED bars in my closet for over a year I decided that I wanted to get those babies mounted. The problem that I had a year ago is figuring out how to get them on the bottom of the car. I was just going to say screw it and have a local shop do it, but they are out of business and Car Toys said they'd charge $360 (I only went there for laughs). So now I'm back to doing it myself or having someone in the Seattle area help me out.
What I know:
Use zip ties that use one screw on each side
use the shortest screws you can find
what I don't know:
How do you get the screws in there? isn't it metal under there?
Where can I put these screws so I won't puncture my gas reservoir or something else?
What size screws should I actually use?
What else do I need to know to get this done?
Once they are mounted I'll have no problem with the wiring (woking this summer as an electrician/plumber/carmpenter). I thought mounting would be the easiest part... Any help is greatly appreciated

look aroiund under the car for spots an figure it out. wink1.gif
i drilled small holes for the screws and used some crappy plastic brackets. jongtr suggested hose clamps, which would work a lot better.
for the sides, i mounted them right next to the bars(no idea what they are called) that run about a foot parallel to each side of the car.
the front i connected to something plastic with zipties.
the rear i drilled through some metal brackets connected to the bumper and connected the plastic brackets to that with screws.
sorry for the terminology and vague directions, im feeling kinda dumb tonight. seriously just look down there and try to figure stuff out. its not to hard.

well I went out and tried the screws again. No luck... I just can't seem to get the screws to set anywhere... Everywhere I try to do it seems like screwing into metal. Do I need to predrill some holes? I thought that self tapping screws should have worked. This is so frustrating since if I could just get them on the car the rest would be simple. (CarToys said $150 to just mount the lights and not do any of the wiring... bastards)

Now if I only had some ramps or something to make it easier. It's tough with like 6 inches of clearence...

ya drilled some small holes for a zip tie to go through and then zip tied it, it worked awesome. i wouldent use the plastic brackets since they brake easy, my friend did it that way and in the winter the plastic cracked and he ended up driving with his lights dragging along the road,
