I really don't think that would be worth it.

Blacktibs might be aware.... I can't remember right now, but a company DID make a Veilside replica for the first gen, and supposedly it was the mold used for Summer's car.

I don't think it'd be worth it. With the headlights, taillights, and grill... it's just a big PITA

Not worth it, You would have to buy a new hood, headlights, and tail lights, For that price just buy the one for a RD1

its too very different front ends man and its impossible to do really without changing the whole front end. The upper core support on an RD2 is about 7 or 8 inches wide compared to the 3 inch wide upper support for the RD1. The RD1 upper support is straight where as the rd2 has curves to fit the curved hood and headlights. The RD2 bumper would never sit on a RD1 upper core supporrt so you would have no support for the top of your bumper. Cut it all you want but you would be better off cutting up a stocker and making it look different, many people have done that here. Trust me, I have had some dumbass weld the wrong front end onto my car and think he could make an RD2 veilside front fit on a rd1 upper support. I ended up having to cut out the upper support and weld the right one in. There are too many different parts for the front end on the rd1 and rd2 so by a kit for your car, I think someone here is selling a kit for an RD2

you would need lots of fiberglass, and good ability to use it and make it strong for the new parts of the kit you'd have to create.

i don't even think you could do it with a lot of fiberglass maj, your talking a 5-7 inch gap atleast of airspace between the upper support and the top of the RD2 bumper. You would need to make some kinda mold to fiberglass over.

effectively for the front though the fenders and the indicators are the same for both gens? (they look the same)
i would only need to fiberglass and cut around the headlight area? and the grill piece. i mean i would be cutting more off than i would be glassing correct?

its just a very good opportunity you dont have much options down under, (where i live) i dont want a 2nd gen as my 1st gen is already heavly modified.. engine and interior wise, i have a bodykit but i want a change.. lol

I think it has been done before? can you tell me if you know any1?

cheers

you could maybe cut them at the middle and mold the bottom parts to the stock bumpers but I'm not sure how hard that would be to make it fit...i think a couple of people molded some GK fronts on their RD1's (search button) and they came out really good but they took a lot of work. Thats really the only way if even.

Without a molding it to a stock (or aftermarket even) RD1 bumper top half you will never get it to fit. Look at some pictures of the fronts of both versions and try to understand what i was saying above about the size difference in the upper support that holds the bumper. To go from rd2 to rd1 you would have to mold in that big as gap you would have and the molding would have to be strong enough to support the whole bumper.

The way I see it if your really stuck on trying to get this RD2 veilside to fit your RD1 you got two options- 1 Buy the veilside and hack it up to mold on to your stock or current bumpers.

2 Cut the upper support member out, buy RD2 headlights, hood, upper support member and we haven't even gotten into the new tailights and rear hatch you will need to buy for the back of your car.
