Default Terry cloths for polishing. Rough type or smooth type?

Going to polish tomorrow. Going on a friends suggestion and I wanted to pick up terry cloths. I found two different types. One are more rough and although 100% cotton look like they might scratch the surface, and the other are a very fine knit, super smooth, but look like they wouldn't have any bite for polishing out scratches.

The rough ones are like this:

and I don't have a good image of the smooth ones.

Which should I go with?

i polished my LC with a terry cloth, sh*t's bad man. scratched the hell out of the paint, i'm going to buy some microfibre cloths and polish it again to get rid of the scratches.
