Stock Front Bumper Project
I'm planning to do a little project with two stock front bumpers.
I'm probably going to ditch the fiberglass bumper cause it really doesnt fit right around the corners, head lights, and fender line and that bothers me alot, so i came up with an idea. Kind of like what ajay (If i remember correctly) did but instead of matching with any other cars' bumper i'm just doing it with another RD2 stocker. It's mainly cause i want something to last and support the scraping and such. I would love a polyurathane body kit but unfortunatily we dont have any.
Anyway, here are some pics of how i want to mess around with the bumpers. So if anyone of you that still have their stockers and would like to sell it or maybe even throw it away, here is somebody that can use it.
I used RedShark_TiBuRoN's COTM Entry pics. Hope it's ok...

I want to make two different cuts, one on each bumper. This is how i have it on my head so i wont get messed up... The one thats going to be on the car will be cut were the blue line is, on the upper part of the blinker lights, or how ever they are called. The second bumper will be cut on the black line were the flat part of the bumper starts. In that point when i stick them together it will have lowered it about an inch or so, and i think it'll keep the low profile of the side skirts. After doing that I'll get it all ready for paint.
I also liked what Mad_John did with his bumper for the IC so i might as well do that also while i'm at it with this project. tongue.gif
This is how it might turn out...

I'm not a fan of it either tbh. It also seems like a lot of work with very little gained.
If you want to mod the stock bumper, how about doing something like this...

Fill the grille area, cut the lower middle section of the bumper out, mold in a front bumper splitter, add a couple of vents on the sides & voila fing02.gif

^^^ The thing is i dont want fiberglass on the bottom of the bumper cause it will just brake off and i dont want to be worrying about that like i am with this bumper, on every dip, or bump i worry the heck out of me, so yeah. But i do like the scoops idea and covering the top grill part. Top part looks like the cuda 2 kit...
On another note you guys are right, the IC cut-out doenst look nice, i need to think of another way on how to cut it that it'll look nice and be functional. Pease give me some ideas guys and girls.

Get an ABS splitter & bolt it to the underside of the stock bumper. Use bodyfiller around where it joins the bumper then paint the whole thing. It might crack around the seems if you bottom out badly but it won't brake off.
Either way, if you can't find an ABS one, a FG splitter will be fine. My new FG bumper has scraped & bottomed out loads of times over the last few months but it's still in one piece with only a few minor scuffs underneath it.

LN, it might be very unneccesary. leave the bumper the way it is. sadly we really have no options for us. if you were to do it, you would have to have it done right but that would be sort of bad because the stability of it would be worse.
i see where you're getting at, but it looks good the way it is.
