I've never seen this rare 2 pillar oem spoiler, unless its the "type R" spoiler that I want.

thats on like 75% of canadian rd2's. but its kinda rare in the states. you can easily get one of those though from a canadian member with no issues.

maybe in canada they made it for a few days. but that's strictly wings west factory replica. i'd have to see some part #'s to believe it. or maybe a diagnostic sheet. you can buy these things from magazines and ebay. i'll believe you, but i'm 5% familiar with this.

Here is a picture of Viper966's Tib with the OEM two pillar spoiler.

wow, shark spoiler on an rd2, ive only seen that once, and it was back in the team SR days, guess it involved alot of work to get the rd1 version to work, i never knew they made it for the rd2.

how can u tell the difference betwen a real one, and a WW?

zoned019 08-27-2006 04:42 PM

you don't really have to do anything to make a spoiler fit..

A lot of work = drilling 6 holes ^^^^ ??

real ones are made of urethane i'm guessing, and ww ones out of fiberglass?

i still like the oem 3 spoke the best.

but, if you get that, which will be hard to do in itself, you also need to upgrade the hydraulic lifts in the hatch because they'll be too weak to pop the truck with the spoiler on.

xxxmonoxidechild 08-27-2006 05:16 PM

the shape of the rear hatch was different, so it didnt sit right, he had posted pics of quite alot of fiberglass he did. it definitly wasnt as simple as you put it for the install. drillsergeant.gif

i still don't believe there was an OEM. you can tell the difference between the two because under the light hyundai has a part number.

there was never a shark spoiler for the rd2. if so, there would have to be RD1 length holes in the hatch. i've never seen or heard of any RD2 with holes made for an RD1, and if there exists one then i'll be damned. Viper966 probably had to drill new holes for the spoiler and use a spoilerless hatch (without any holes) or maybe patch up the old holes from his old hatch to get it to fit.

second, right i've never seen a shark spoiler with a flat bottom. the shark spooilers are all curved meaning if you set them on your table the bottom of it is arched. rd2 spoilers always have a flat bottom.

I'm pretty sure these were official Hyundai promo pics... not sure where from though...
