Solenoids And Shaved Doors
I was wondering if anyone here has shaved their door handles, and if they did, what solenoids did you use, how long did it take to switch, and where did you get them... I was looking @ www.autoloc.com, but I don't know what size to get, so looking for insight,
I've heard too small won't be enough to pop the door, and too big will warp the door, so i want to get the right size.... also, how long have you people that installed shaved door kits had them and have you had any problems?? (rust, sticking, etc)?
Thanks guys

haha.
Ok, I have 50Lb AutoLoc Solenoids in my car. I'm actually going to downgrade them to the 35 Lb pops.
I also have the pushers installed and they don't warp my doors.
I'm downgrading to the 50Lb because in my daily driven tib, the solenoid breaks after a year or so of service. I've gotten them replaced by AutoLoc, but since I'm having this issue with them breaking themselves, I'm going to try out the lower power one.
It has a set of rings on the inside shaft of the puller. 3 washers + 1 retaining clip. The washers end up getting pummeled so bad because of how hard it pulls, it basically turns them into a convex shape, then starts hammering away at the retaining clip. This ends up destroying the retaining clip and the whole center of the popper just falls out. It's extremely annoying.
I've been waiting for my new driver's side to come in. I started using my passenger side since my drivers side is out, and after 2 months of useage, it's starting to show signs that it's going to give out also.
So basically, from my experience, 50Lb is good and strong, but it's overkill.
35Lb should be fine.

Update:
Just wanted to let you know. I have the 35Lb now installed in both sides and they work perfectly fine. Heck, I could probably use something even less powerful to open the doors.
Just so you know though, I have the popers mounted on the bottom of the doors, and a line that runs it through a spot in the back of the door through some cable insulators I pulled from a bicycle. This way the poper pulls side to side, along the bottom, but it pulls side of the door lever that was connected to the outside handle. This way it doesn't make my interior handles move when the popper pulls and requires less power to open the door.
Maybe this picture will help a little:
