Default Wasup yall......

So basically, right now I'm smoking my tail lights for my 2001 Tiburon. I really like how the GTI (Golf) tail lights looks with the smoked strips, and how the SL55 tail lighits look too, so I decided to smoke the white strip on my tail lights. They will be finished tomorrow, and once I'm done with them, i'll post pics. Has anybody done this yet?

well i wetsanded the white strip first with 600 grid sandpaper, then over again with 800 grid sandpaper. next i put masking tape over all of the red on the taillights so that only the white strip was showing. next i used 'Testors Transparent Black Tint Spray, Model No. 2949' and sprayed the white strip. your supposed to spray the white strip, wait 2-3 min, then spray again...and continue this until the desired tone of tint is achieved. after you're satisfied with the color, put the taillights in a safe place for a day and let it fully dry. then take it out, use 1500 gride sandpaper to get out the little bumps if any. you don't have to do this, but if you choose to, be VERY CAREFUL. after that, polish it, wax it, and clear coat it. thats it! really easy and a simple mod. but i haven't seen the finished product yet...so im not sure how its going to turn out. ill post pics once its finished.

I used the same stuff on mine... but I pulled the lamps out and sprayed from inside... it is not quite as even as doing it from outside the housing, but need to get up very close to see that.
