Default should i tape my car for a 400mi drive?

im driving about 400 miles next weekend and the highway sucks, lots of trucks, and bugs. does taping really help or should i just wax the hell out of it before i leave? and is there anything special i should know about applying or removing the tape?

why tape? Do you have wax on your car already? I've heard people say that some tape actually causes indentions in their paint and not to do it.

Do you have custom paint? OEM Paint? What's the quality and care of the paint? What are your concerns?

I drove back and forth to college all the time in my 2000 Tiburon, 180 miles each way, all interstate, never any problems.

If you take your vehicle out of the garage, you risk damage, (given the weird weather we have been having, it may not even be safe in your garage!). Wax it, (lower your insurance "comprehensive" coverage if that will make you feel better), and enjoy the h*ll out of the road trip. "Stuff" is replaceable, good memories arn't!

Warm Regards

If you do use tape I would use the blue or green painters tape which comes off real easy and doesn't leave any residue behind. Although I never left that tape on my cars paint for more than a day and never exposed it to the sun so u should experiment with a small area first if you can.
