k ive heard the term shaved antenna a couple times now. i'm pretty sure it means to remove and fill in the hole, but if not what is it? and if you do just remove and fill, then how do you get reception?

Yeah, basically remove the antenna and fill in the hole.
You would have to install a new antenna somewhere else, either external or internal, to still get radio reception.
I know a few people with shaved antennas who have the small interior T-style antenna mounted on the windshield, behind the rearview mirror.

Mine is gone, I swapped the rear washer nozzle with an antenna, but it didn't work all that well, so I tried an internal mounted to the windshield. It works ok when I need it to.

yes, to "shave" something on your car means to remove it and fill in the hole.
As for reception, that is up to you. They do make aftermarket antennas that fit behind the glass.

We shaved the antenna (no water nozzle on this ride) and put a little one on the top of the car in front of roof spoiler. Looks like a remote control car, I'll just photo shop a blown up guy standing next to it adn give it a 1:3 scale. Largest remote control car in the states.
