For thos who have repainted your car i just want to know how much it cost and about how long it took. I will be repainting my car in the spring when i get my bodykit install and i would just like to have an idea of what im looking at. Thanks
(BTW im thinking about a dark blue or just putting a fresh coat of black of it with a new coat of clear)

I'd also like to find out about this. i think another factor is if your getting it painted the same or a different color. think about all the places they'll have to paint if your getting a different color 02.gif

Whatever you do, make sure the paint shop is a reputable one and not one of those cheap Zebart paint jobs.

Just finsihed up putting on a body kit and repainting the entire car. I kept the original color (much easier and cheaper, no door jambs etc to bother with). I did the body work and a friend shot the car but to get a quality job, we pulled the doors, fenders, molding, and bumper covers for painting. With using a good quality epoxy sealer, epoxy primer, base coat, and clear coat, I dropped around $400 in paint materials alone. Since I did the work myself, it took a lot longer than a body shop but considering the front end was messed up (hence the body kit) and it got caught in a hail storm, there was a lot of body work to complete. All in all, it took about 3 months because I was doing the work in my spare time but a good body shop should be able to shot your car in about a week. Talk with them and see how much they will knock off if you do some of the prep work. Just remember the prep work is the most important part of a paint job looking good and the quality of paint will help it last.

okay, this weekend my f2 bumper came on. they couldn't match the color so we agreed on re-painting the entire car to another red color.

that's right! no more tomato for me!! my mechanic gave me a huge discount. it's $400 for labor to put on and paint the F2 bumper and the Shark Wing spoiler + re-painting the entire car. that includes complete sunroof removal too.

no bad at all!

Depends on what you get... the prep work is the most important part, thats where 90% of shops mess up, and it leads to bad paintwork/chipping/peeling down the road.

Paint materials (clear, the paint, etc.) are probably gonna cost around $500-600 buckeroos for something from say, HOK or a manufacturer. It also depends on how many shots of clear/paint/etc. you want and if you want the engine/jambs/etc. painted. My Dad's Nova cost $7000 and three months to paint. Most average jobs are going to be around $1500-2200 and take around week or two depending on how backed up they are.

you know what, I think only if the new paint is a part of your "colour scheme",

then it would'nt be bad at all to leave the engine bay/ and other harder and more costly places to repaint.

I think you could get away with it. Only if the colour is apart of your "colour scheme" of course.
