Default RD2 -> RD1 Conversion

Ive always like the front end of RD1s better. Other than hood lights and bumper what else is needed? Are the fenders the same or different?

Unless he was able to find a scrapped RD1...Im sure he could pick up all the parts really cheap.

yes but paint is gonna be expensive...all to look like a stock vehicle

you can easily sell your tib and buy another tib and not lose your ass in the process

Then you would have a stock looking car with stock body panels. Why not keep the RD2, and make it even more unique by swapping out different gen body parts. Its a very common thing to do in the tuner world, from Honda/Acuras, to Nissans, and to even in the mini/sport truck world.

Hell...Accent owners swap out engines & trannys with tibs. Your answer to that could be to just sell an Accent and buy a tib, but again...its not as unique as doing a swap.

yes but accents are lighter and doing it for a performance thought is one thing

for aesthetics though, it would not be really worth it really

madjohn swapped his front end way back when...it was rather expensive and he had access to korean parts

But then you'd have an RD1 interior. It's WAAAAY more expensive to find an RD2's interior. Look at the shifter ring alone.... People post WTB's all the time for them and come up with nothing.

front end would be relatively easy..

headlights, radiator support bar, bumper, hood and possibly some wiring for headlights. you can rivet in radiator support or you can have it welded in.

ass end would require a good amount of body work with the rear 1/4 panels. looks like you only want the front from what i can tell.

the rd2 interior > rd1 interior.

I always wanted to convert the front end of my RD2 when i had it but ended up taking another route.

if you end up going through with it, go for an aftermarket bumper to replace the fugly rd1 front end, or do the RD2 bottom of the RD1 bumper.. very nice looking.
