Well I'm finally getting my tib back on the road. She's been out of commission for a while due to a bad accident, some of you may have seen pictures from previous posts. I still have a few problems I'm trying to fix but their minor things that I'll fix this coming weekend. For now I'm going to ride with the old wrecked up bumper because I have had so many people look at my custom front bumper and tell me that I have to put in composite lights because the tib stock lights do not line up or fit right. Any one heard of any such lights?? If so where can I get them and how much they gonna run me?

it looks like if you actually attached the bumper, it would line up right..
Either way, if you go to walmart, you can find some in the headlights section. You'll need to find a way to mount them though.
composite lights are the old style where you buy the entire headlight instead of replacing a bulb.

gotcha. I know it looks like they might line up but they won't. There are gaps prolly because the lights were never really lined up. The whole front of this car was wrecked and when I tried to have someone replace the core support they put on the RD1 version which is a the major difference in the two models. As I have posted before I cut out the upper support and replaced it myself but I don't have anything to set these lights. They didn't just fit in with a couple bolts, had to actually drill holes and line shit up best I could so they could be off a little but even so I have seen this kit on many cars on here.
The only question I'm really left with is what did everyone else with this bumper do when it came to lining up their lights? Was it as simple as a perfect fit or did any of you have to make adjusments or mold to the lights or have any problems with getting their lights to fit the bumper perfectly??

composite headlights are only even made for just a few applications anymore. all of which are shitty american cars. its a BAD idea to try to switch back to composite style headlights. you might remember them from this american shitbox
your buddy who said you should switch to composite headlights is a moron.. tell him that... seriously, do it.
why you had a rd1 rad. support welded in is WAY beyond me, but if you have, and the lights don't line up right, just do some tweaking on the mounts.. add a spacer washer to move headlight forward to fill in the gap or whatever the problem is.
or you can do this, add some FG to the light circles on the bumper. that will fill in the gaps.. i have seen on PLENTY of aftermarket bumpers about 1/2" gap between the headlights and the holes. how much gap do you have.
also, you can change your hole locations for where the headlights are mounted since your pure genuis told you to use a rd1 core support lol. nana.gif

you gotta read what i wrote in my previous forum to know this man, but stupid f***in mechanic guy installed the wrong support but I replaced the different upper support myself after finding out and taking my car back in the middle of work so he wouldn't f*** anything else up.
and not a buddy but many people recommended composite lights...one of them tho, was a better mechanic than most of you on this page, possibly any of you and he's the only one to put some consideration into it. He only recommended them because their easy fitment but I plan to stick with the stock. I kinda agree that composite would be a waste.
When I got replaced the upper support it didn't come with the bottom half of the sheet metal that holds your lights in so I had to line them up as best I could myself and they seem to fit about right in a wrecked stock bumper but the gap is about a 1/4 in. on the hi beams with the custom, kinda see it in the pic. I'm gonna go with the slide the lights inward more, drill new holes and reset the position that way if any body molding is necessary it's minimal.

well he probably mentioned composites because he is used to working on old american cars where thats all they used.
if hes such a great mechanic why dont you take your problems to him instead of insulting the abilitys of any of the members on this board. but in the same post asking use what to do. mad.gif

what an ignorant statement.. seriously. you have no clue if any of us are mechanics or not. how do you judge his skills of being a mechanic, cuz he has an ASE cert.? if he is so good why didn't you have him put on your rad. support.. also, if he was such a AMAZING car guy, he wouldn't reccomend such a stupid idea.. there are tons of easier, better ways to fix that problem you have.
putting a rectangle, or any style composite light in a place where a circle convex light is supposed to be is not only stupid, it would look reatarded as hell.
these 'many' people that recommended composite lights are ALL morons..
easy fitment? to what, the stock composite light holes? the ability to have a huge composite light with two small holes?
if you had ANY clue what you were doing and actually had MAD skillz (or your buddies had them) you would have easily figured out how to fix this 'minor' headlight issue by now.. shit, i could have it fixed in like 30 min with the right tools, since you already botched up your core support.

^^ calm down mang! It's not that serious. You're a good mechanic, and you're a nice guy, and people like you, and they say nice things about you and they like your car... Goos-fraba......
They make circular composite lights too. I had some on my 66 Impala. They would work, but it would not be posible to adjust them to the road without comming up with some sort of bracket That would kinda suck.
You're missing the headlight gaskets. They would remove between 1/8-1/4 inch of clearance between your headlights and the bumper smile.gif.
