Default Question about Tail Lights

Does it really matter if aftermarket tail lights are DOT approved, or whatever? Will cops or the inspection people care? Thanks!

Yes, and YES!

If you get pulled over, with Non-DOT approved lights, they can Impound your car, as it is "unsafe" for you to drive with non-DOT lights.

I would bet 75% of the time, they would never notice...but that remaining 25% of the time.....look out, your gonna get raped!

To the best of my knowledge, All the lights that SR sells are DOT legal.

Any tailight is illegal if they do not have a red reflectory in it. Since the early "all clear" tails did not have those, they were NOT DOT approved. To the best of my knowledge all "altezza" style lights are DOT legal as they have the red reflector.

Also, since the lenses for the reverse and turn lights are clear you would have to have an amber bulb in the turn and the regular "clear" bulb in the reverse. That would make them completely DOT compliant. Since I live in a laid back place like Colorado, they usually don't care about anybody's hiperwhites.
